چکیده

The industrialization and urbanization expansion have increased the demand for precious rare earth elements (REEs). In addition, environmental concerns regarding toxic effects of heavy metals on living organisms imposed an urgent need efficient methods their removal from wastewaters aqueous solutions. most technique metal ions is adsorption due to its reversibility high efficiency. Numerous adsorbents were mentioned as possible in literature. Chelating polymer ligands (CPLs) with adaptable surface chemistry, affinity towards targeted ions, capacity, fast kinetics, chemically stable, reusable are especially attractive. This review focused methacrylate-based magnetic non-magnetic porous sorbents. Special attention was devoted amino-modified glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) copolymers. Main parameters, kinetic models, isotherms, thermodynamics process, well regeneration polymeric sorbents discussed.

Biosorption and Recovery of Heavy Metals from Aqueous Solutions by Eichhornia Crassipes (water Hyacinth) Ash

Heavy metal’s release without treatment poses a significant threat to the environment. Heavy metals are non-biodegradable and persistent. In the present study the ash of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes), was used to remove six metals from aqueous solutions through biosorption. Results of batch and column experiments showed excellent adsorption capacity. Removal of lead, chromium, zinc, cad...

Polymeric sorbents for removal of Cr(VI) from environmental samples*

Chromium (Cr) is an important raw material in some chemical industries including paint, pigments, textiles, leather tanning, steel fabrication, electroplating, cement preservation, and canning industries. Once in the environment, Cr exists in various oxidation states depending on pH and concentration. Trivalent [Cr(III)] and hexavalent [Cr(VI)] forms are the most common with Cr(VI) being the mo...

A Study on Neodymium Recovery from Aqueous Solutions for Designing a New Generation of Sandwich Liquid Membrane

Liquid Membrane (LM) based processes, as Supported Liquid Membranes (SLMs), have been proposed, for over 30 years, as effective methods for the selective separation of inorganic/organic species from different water streams. The industrial use of SLMs has been limited mainly by their insufcient stability. To investigate on the main cause of system destabilization and the o...

Development of biochar sorbents from food-industry by-products for the removal of phenanthrene and mercury from aqueous solutions

The production of added value products such as biochars from food-industry by-products is a sustainable idea. These raw materials not only are free of charge but their pyrolysis will help solve management problems. The objectives of the present study are (a) to characterize the developed materials for their properties that affect sorption such as surface area, grain size, total organic carbon, ...

Sorption of Hydrophobic Organic Compounds on Natural Sorbents and Organoclays from Aqueous and Non-Aqueous Solutions: A Mini-Review

Renewed focus on the sorption of hydrophobic organic chemicals (HOCs) onto mineral surfaces and soil components is required due to the increased and wider range of organic pollutants being released into the environment. This mini-review examines the possibility of the contribution and mechanism of HOC sorption onto clay mineral sorbents such as kaolinite, and soil organic matter and the possibl...
